We are excited to present this incredibly rare 1999 Toyota Hiace RecVee Country Sports camper van for sale. Positioned at the premium end of RecVee’s 1999 lineup, this rig was fully built and assembled in Japan. It features real wood cabinetry and finishes that deliver exceptional build quality along with a cozy, inviting interior. With only 100,000 original miles and presents like it has much less, you would be hard-pressed to find a comparable example, let alone one in this immaculate, like-new condition.

Imported from Japan earlier this year the van is highly original, thankfully leaving all of the Recvee craftsmanship intact. It has recieved a host of service and maintenance since arriving. Paired with service records from it’s life in Japan, it is positioned well to be turn-key and used for the season.

The van chassis is a 1999 Toyota Hiace Super Custom KZH138 – This was Toyota’s longest and tallest highest that left the factory. It is powered by the legendary and powerful 1KZ-TE, Toyota’s 3.0 Liter turbo diesel powertrain, paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission and a full-time 4WD system that distributes power 50/50 to the front and rear wheels. This van also has the rarely factory optioned rear LSD ( Limited Slip Differential ) Making it quite the capable rig off the pavement. Most Hiace’s were not fitted with an LSD, these did not come standard. The center differential is mechanically regulated by a viscous coupling—the exact same robust system found in the US-market Previa All-Trac. It is exceptionally capable in snow, gravel, mud, and low-traction conditions.

The camper portion features a brilliant design that maximizes both passenger capacity and camping comfort. The lower dinette offers comfortable seating for up to 6, and the second-row bench flips easily to face forward for driving or rearward for camp dining. With seatbelts for five in the back and three up front. It seat a total of 8 passengers, with belts for 7.

The lower floor transforms into a large bed. Above it, the cleverly designed drop-down bunk sleeps two adults when in place. It folds forward and clips up to stow away, allowing for approx 63.5 inches of headroom when not in use.

The rear “garage” galley complete with a counter top with lower and upper storage and sink plumbed to 20 liters of fresh water and 20 liters of grey water storage. The sink faucet smartly can be extended to be used as a shower to rinse off at the rear of the van. Keep your items fresh with the coolmatic AC/DC fridge, positioned mideway in the van. Various real solid wood cabinetry above and below offers plenty of storage space. Powering the onboard coach systems is the newer marine battery setup. For off-grid camping in cold weather, it features a premium Mikuni diesel heater that plumbs directly into the vehicle’s main fuel tank. Interior curtains all around and 50/50 sliding windows on the first level add to the overall comfort.

These high-tier RecVee builds are becoming nearly impossible to find, especially with such low mileage.
